Ever since I started blabbing on this site, I have had issues with the quick account logon timeout. I don't know what the session timeout is set to but it's too darn frequent.
For the last few months, I have been using the
Tor network to do all of my browsing and mail. I don't like commercialism on the Internet and I don't like being tracked/monitored so I do things like have add blockers in my browser, dump all cookies when I close the browser and make heavy use of SSL encryption.
When I started using Tor, the frequency of the logon timeouts here on Pipcop increased. Now, almost every post I make, even if they are made one after another, I have to log back on.
I have noticed that a lot of sites are able to detect Tor use and penalize users. For example, Google will place the user in
Captcha hell where it will present a captcha and not recognize the response and present another captcha. Many sites will not work properly. My hypermiling site cleanmpg.com has a blacklist of banned IP addresses which I cannot get around. For some reason, this site has the side effect of lowering the timeout so that I am constantly logging into the site.
Storing a semi-permanent cookie is not a solution so please don't suggest it. Storing user ID's and passwords in cookie's is a big security risk.
Pipcop, any suggestions?
