That's hilarious!. Just imagine everyone fast asleep and the power goes out. Purely because of our reliance on electricity that everything goes quiet anyway, but to be the noisy one with what sounds a little like smoke alarms, you could wake up to a heart attack!

You have no idea how right you are. It happens from time to time and it takes me a good 1-2 minutes to determine if it's the smoke detectors, the carbon monoxide detector, the server UPS, or the UPS for the rest of the stuff. I've had times where the servers (used to) overload the circuit, so just they would go on backup power. Quite nutty. I've solved that by plugging them into the circuit for the washer/dryer which is much better rated for load.

So I've lined up another server which I can use for parts for $50. I have to drive an hour to get it, which I will do tomorrow. Hopefully I can salvage my current server by using some parts from this new one and get it back online.

I still have to get the Donation system back up online, plus all those other things. Crazy!

It sounds like you have set up quite a business along with the commitment to ongoing service. You must really have your hands full!

I can see a closet extension coming up.

New server has been picked up. I'll tear it part later.

Line conditioner arrived. Now I have to get a deep-cycle battery and some power cables to hook up the UPS. Oh boy.

Everything is finally hooked up. Battery is charging so everything should be operational within 12-24 hours. Not pretty, but here it is:
