Is DoTrades set to 1?

With this robot, you'll also want to read the entire manual to be sure you completely understand how it works. It's designed for the expert trader, so it's nowhere as simple as most other robots, and you will have to spend a lot of time testing and changing it to make it suit your needs.

DoTrades is set to true...

Basically, I would like to use GT-Shadow as I like the idea of grid trading and I am convinced by GoldMiner. So I would like to buy GT-Shadow and use it GM settings for a long while and in the meantime (after extensive testing etc...) include some other pairs.

As per the info spread by the website and in the gt-shadow manual not all settings are suitable for backtesting. As per the same info this has something to do with only one pair beeing available in the backtest, while for shadowcalculation you also need the other pair.

AFAIK backtesting is not possible only when you use the shadowing feature. It should be possible with one currency pair , especially when I use the Goldminer preset...

I've just taken the plundge and purchased the full version of GT Shadow: $697.

I'm more and more convinced by the logic of grid trading and see it as an investment strategy rather than a trading system. So yes there will be long periods of drawdown as the currency trends away from its centre towards its high or low value.
Drawdown will increase exponentially as this happens but will eventually reach a theoretical maximum. Profits however, though linear, have no limit and will eventually exceed drawdown over time: it is absolutely inveitable as long as the account keeps trading.

I hope to make around 5% per month on a $7500 live account trading just the EURCHF pair. I prefer this to the AUSNZD because the spread is much less, so more profit for me less for the broker .

Ill keep you informed how I get on, but it will be a long slow process!

Regarding the currency shadowing feature, I had this nice reply from Forex Goldmine:

"The Shadowing feature is actually the hardest one to explain,
it's a feature that allows you to hedge trade different currency 's,
while you decide the different midpoints of those currency 's, through
a shadow profit, which is a hypothetical profit, so instead of
calculating the midpoint by a number of pips, you are calculating it,
through a profit, that you would accumulate if you would of started
trading at a certain point , this is a great feature to use if you are
hedging two different currency pairs at the same time.

We are working on a in depth tutorial that will explain that feature,
to your fullest understanding, which should be available very soon."

I think this is a great EA with huge potential and much more flexiblity than Robominer, thats why I've spent a lot of money to get it.

Wish me good luck.

LadySara,

A wise investment. I have just bought a second license for another account.

As you will see when you perfect strategy tests and use them you will be rewarded a little faster than you think.

I have been able ton test run shadow trading with 2 currencies but I never spent much time with this feature as the normal trading and hedge trading feature creates great return by itself.

If you fine tune the strategy tests you will reduce DD quite a bit along with the sound advice of removing your initial deposit asap hence zero risk.

As your balance increases you can see risk reducing substantually but there is always a turbulant period around 12th to 13th of each month where I have had to place some manual hedge trades (just in case), and I can see the only reason for having to do the manual trades is because I hadn't fine tuned my currency .set file quite enough.

Some advice (take it or leave it). Run some stratgey tests on other currencies compared to EURCHF, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
You now have a tool that can trade any pair so why stop at EURCHF and AUDNZD?

I couldn't be happier with it.

Default RoboMiner vs GT Shadow

Hi All....James, what a great site, honest info, like being able to
breath again.
I have been running Robominer for 3 weeks on a live account with
IBFX. Have the BF set to zero on both pairs...AUD/NZD and
EUR/CHF. Spreads on Aud/Nzd are really bad with IBFX. Fabturbo has really wrecked the spreads at a lot of brokers. I am
running a demo MT4 with MB Trading but the data feed is not good by their words, better this summer so say. They are an ECN
broker . Back to business.
My account with IBFX was about 4200 when I started Robominer and it's up about 265 in three weeks. Thanks to the big move this week in both pairs..lucky in the right direction.
Question...is there any advantage to GT Shadow if you have Robominer? I am satisified to let Robominer keep going using the auto cal feature, which I am not sure is working right since mine are trading .12 lots on a mini account.
Ya'll's comments would be greatly appreciated.

I have found that IBFX is not the best broker for Robominer. FXDD is better habitat for this EA. their AUDNZD spread is fixed (most of the time) 17 pips.

Thanks Duwi, tonight the spread is close to 20 pips. I have been looking for a different broker and it's a tough business finding a decent broker . What little I know, it seems an ECN broker is the way to go, like MB Trading.
I am kinda waiting to see when they go live with MT4.
Thanks
Bert

forex.com 's spread for AUDNZD is "as low as 4.5" - as advertised. Anyone with them?
