How do you keep track of which robot placed which trade?

All I see are the trades at the bottom of the metatrader screen.

Hi Carlos,

Most EA's have a magic number as part of their settings. When you are running multiple EA's in one account, each EA on each chart needs to have a unique magic number. This is the way that you can separate the trades by EA. MetaTrader has no ability to filter trades by EA. You can use one of the MetaTrader statement hosting services like MyFXBook.com but their coverage of different EA's is tricky and mostly does not work properly.

What I do is to load all of my closed trades into a database and use MT4Analysis to report on trades by EA. That is how I can do my weekly and monthly reports so fast.

Looks like photon did well tonight in your demo account. I hope you had similar results in your live account. I downloaded an ea with a set file, I put the ea under experts but where do I put the set file? Thanks in advance.

Hi Dan,

The set file goes in the experts\presets MetaTrader directory and when you bring up the EA properties, click on the Load button and it will load the presets in the set file into the EA's settings.

Last night was a great example of a live/real money account verses a demo account using the same broker . The demo had 7 trades. Here is the breakdown:

-USDCAD sell, +10pips
-USDCAD buy +4.4pips
-EURUSD sell +2.9pips
-EURUSD sell +2.3pips
-EURUSD sell +2.3pips
-USDCHF buy -0.8pips
-USDCAD sell +1.5 pips

For a total of 22.6 pips

My live account took the following trades:

-USDCAD sell +1.7pips
-EURUSD sell +0.7pips
-EURUSD sell +1.2pips

For a total of 3.6 pips.

This is an example of the wide variation between a demo account and a live account using the same broker . This variation is very wide with scalpers. Some say that an ECN broker will narrow this gap but I have seen no proof of this.

Thanks for the info it worked great. Just as you predicted photon seems to be different demo versus live. I am sure some days will be closer though. We will see. I am back testing RSI Power Maximum on GBP/USD M15. It looks really good but the no stoploss is scary. I guess it would require some manual closes or some customization of the settings. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

I just read the entire RSI Power Maximum thread over at tradingsystemforex.com. It's an interesting EA but without any stop loss, it will blow the account. It's just a question of when. I was tempted to try it myself but I have used EA's before with either no stop loss or a very wide stop loss and have been burnt often.

You are right. The more I customized it the uglier it got. I was just looking at it to run back tests on and possibly use it to capitalize on trends. Like only sell or only buy modes. I probably will not use it though, I can not stand to see the losses run. I was also going to ask you if the changes to the settings that you had made to photon on your live account could have also caused some of the difference in live versus demo results?

Hi Dan,

My Photon live account settings are the same as demo except:

-risk is decreased to 5
-long trades are not allowed on the EURUSD, USDCHF and EURJPY pairs

The USDCHF on demo had one long trade yesterday that was a looser.

There are no other changes and nothing that can account for the wide variation between demo and live/real money account.

I gave up on the Two Percent Daily trading system. It's just too manual. I think it would have been profitable if I gave it enough time and effort. To make a real go at it, I would have had to be conscious at the London open (3:00am my time) and I just cannot do that.

I deleted the MyFXBook account.

Forex Photon, day 2 on live/real money account. Differences between demo and live account.

My demo account took 4 trades yesterday:

-USDCAD buy +3.7pips
-USDCAD buy -1.5pips
-EURUSD sell +7.4pips
-EURUSD sell +5.3pips

For a total of 14.9 pips

My live/real money account took 5 trades

-EURUSD sell +4.1pips
-USDCAD buy -3.6pips
-EURUSD sell +6.9pips
-USDCAD buy +10.1pips
-EURUSD sell +8.6pips

For a total of 26.1 pips.

So, in certain cases the live account out performs the demo account.
