Sorry,
384mb not kb.
Make the choice that is right for you. With a VPS, just keep in mind the following:
1. The VPS providers partake in deceptive advertising. They all do it. It revolves around RAM. That 384mb they say you will get will not be 384mb when you connect to the running desktop. You see, the RAM amount they
quote
does not include the amount of RAM required for the OS (Windows). In my case, the desktop just sitting there doing nothing consumes 120mb of RAM.
2. The amount of RAM you need for Metatrader is based on MT4 base memory + number of open charts + EA's + Strategy Tester. If you want to test an EA, lets say that runs on 10 pairs, that instance of MT4 is going to consume a lot of RAM. The Strategy Tester in particular, consumes a lot of memory.
I started with a 512mb VPS and found that this was not enough for two MT4 instances when I wanted to run the Strategy Tester on one of them. Several times, I exceeded my allowable memory. Now, I have a 1gb desktop and most of the time, I am hovering around 400mb with five MT4 instances but that will go up a lot if I am backtesting on one of them.
As I mentioned in my last post, ForexVPS has issues. Their Internet response could be better but 15ms is still way better than if I was running MT4 from home.
