In post #346, you asked me, "How did you discover this?" Well as I mentioned, I have been following your Trading Journal, and I always very closely analyze the specific performance stats for each of the EAs you are using. So, when you posted those large losses, I noticed that the Normal Strategy had incurred the losses, while the Turbo Strategy had not. Which is why it somewhat surprised me when you said that you were trashing EB-Turbo altogether. I thought that maybe you had not seen the correlation that I had seen, which is why I decided to mention it in the first place.
Also, yes, the "EB" setting within EB-Turbo activates/deactivates the Euro Blaster logic (Normal Strategy), which is completely separate and distinct from the "TurboTrading" setting (Turbo Strategy). From what I understand, the EB-Turbo EA is not necessarily meant to be a totally different EA from the original Euro Blaster EA, but rather it was designed to essentially be two EAs in one, so to speak. In other words, EB-Turbo still contains the original Euro Blaster EA logic, but it also contains the newer Turbo logic. And these two different logics/strategies can be controlled independently of each other.
Hopefully, the EB-Turbo EA (Turbo Strategy) will continue to prove to be consistently profitable! The testing continues...
Thanks, Rick!
All the Best,
-JPM | I just completed a backtest with the normal strategy turned off from 2003 to last Thursday. The results are not good. Almost all the account is lost before recovering to a small gain. Long-term, I don't think that the turbo strategy will hold up. The turbo strategy seems to be curve-fitted to specific market conditions. I am going to test it anyway on my demo account for a minimum of three months.
EBT is into it's third trade already with two of them having closed. So far...so good although the price has moved some 50 pips against the third trade.

| Cash Cruiser I just bought the Cash Cruiser EA and added it to a USDCAD M15 chart on my demo account. Cash Cruiser comes from the same author as Euro Blaster and EB-Turbo.

| Major Changes to Live and Demo Accounts I have just pulled the plug on Robominer on my live account. The increasing DD in both Robo pairs is threatening my entire account. As I write this the account DD is 69.45% I am leaving the existing open trades to close by themselves. Robominer is a decent EA but not exceptional and it's dark side (the DD) can be deadly especially if you run it hot (like I am).
With the termination of Robominer, I need another EA to replace it. I have been running The Channel Scalper on my demo account for more than 9 weeks now. Here are the existing stats:
Trade Count: Code: select count() from closedtrade where magic = 40
database result:
row(1):Array ( [count()] => 45 )
Winners: Code: select count() from closedtrade where magic = 40 and pl + rollover > 0
database result:
row(1):Array ( [count()] => 42 )
Winning Percent: 93.33
Pips to Date: Code: select total(pips(ticket)) as p from closedtrade where magic = 40
database result:
row(1):Array ( [p] => 102.0 )
PL to Date: Code: select total(pl + rollover ) as t from closedtrade where magic = 40
database result:
row(1):Array ( [t] => 4413.03 )
As you can see, The Channel Scalper has done very well so far but keep in mind two things:
1. I am running the EA very hot (which I will not do on my live account)
2. The EA TP is a measly 4 pips but the hard stop is 22 pips which means that I have to make sure the EA does not go on a losing streak, and if it does, the lot size is small enough that the impact on my live account is diminished.
So I have decided to put The Channel Scalper on my live account. I still need to find the ideal risk percent.
I have also pulled Zoid from my demo account. It has not done very well at all since I put it on my demo account on Jan 21. It has had several large losses and it is not worthy of any further attention.

| Time of trial Hi Rick,
It's tough time for GT/RM users. My GT-Shadow expert on FXCM is set to 0,07 lot now (I increased the position size as the price is approaching the upper bound). As I did it fairly recently, the drawdown is acceptable. On the other hand I started to play Forex Prospector strategy (this is another EA that was produced by GT/RM authors) on my FXDD account, which assumes gradual incrasing the position sizes when the price goes away from the range center. At this moment, I have "lost" a couple of pretty large trades as the price relentlessly goes north. The beauty of the Prospector strategy is that as soon as the price starts going south the losses should be reclaimed.
As to your current situation, if you survive the AUD/NZD high, I suggest that you manually reposition the TPs so that you "reap" the drawdown .
The only thing that we need however is that the southern range holds... |

Even though I have closed the charts with Robominer on them, the open trade DD is still there. I am planning to re-calculate the TP on all the trades but it's going to be tedious. I wish there was an EA which could take all the open trades by magic number and re-set the TP of each one.
As I write this AUDNZD is at 1.2890 (with today's high at 1.2912 ) and the all time high that I get from my Alpari UK demo account is 1.2966 on Jul 24 2008 but the history starts on Mar 28 2006 so there might be a previous high. I don't have Robo running at all so I cannot tell you the current range number but it must be in the sixties (range max is 66 I believe).

(...) | Go to Goldminer site or get in touch with Pipcop, there is a free EA that makes it possible to change the Robominer TPs at one go.
I thought that AUD/NZD will be my largest problem today (I have just sold 1.3 AUD/NZD lot at the top of the range at my FXDD account)... I was for a big surprise when I checked my FXCM account. Instead of ca 13000 EUR balance -- it shows over -55000 EUR balance ( ). All my open positions have been closed and I see only this BIG RED BALANCE number. The support maintains that this is some sort of technical problem and I suspect that there are many other traders in similar situation, because the chat line was overloaded... I assume that they will sort it out, but I guess it's time to part with them. The only trade that I made on this account today was a 0.07 AUD/NZD sell and the equity was close to 8000 EUR. So definitely there was no action on my side that could have caused anthing like that... |
