I just added the Channel Scalper EA to my demo account. I discovered this EA on TradingSystemForex.com. It's a free EA with source but unfortunately, you have to be an elite member to get the EA

After doing my research, I decided to use the version 1.06, not the latest version 1.09.

This scalping EA trades the EURGBP between 20:00-22:00 (according to the settings I am using). Sounds familiar doesn't it? It's spread sensitive but adjustable. I currently have it set to 3 pips (Alpari UK says that it's typical spread on this pair is 2.1 pips).

I am attaching a backtest strategy report to give you something to drool over

I know that backtests don't mean much but are a good first sign. This backtest is amazing. I ran the test from Jan 1, 2004 to Dec 11, 2009. Starting balance at 15.5K, ending balance is 5.22M. Max DD is 16.21% Test is optimized for Alpari UK (50 lot maximum per trade on this pair).

I'll be spending the next couple of months seeing whether this EA performs well on a demo account. I'll keep you posted.

Just after I finished writing my last post, I noticed that the GMT shift parameter of the Channel Scalper was wrong (I had set it to 2). I just finished setting it back to 1 and a trade opened. Actually three of them. They closed 32 minutes later for 4 pips each but at that lot size (3.2-4.25 each), each one of them netted over $200. I am very impressed

It all started with noticing a particular pattern with the AUDNZD pair. Since Robo/GT trades this pair, I am very comfortable with it and know it well even though the spreads are high.

I spent last night analyzing a D1 chart and confirmed the presence of the pattern and placed two pending orders, one sell, one buy at 1.0 lots each.

Today, at 20:10 (GMT +2), the buy order was triggered and the trade is now in progress and doing well (+20 pips).

One of my problems has always been when to exit a trade. For this manual system, I have decided to set the TP the same as Robominer (+40 pips).

The one great thing about this manual system is that I am using the daily chart and need to check the price and make adjustments only once a day. The rest is automatic.

Naturally, I am talking about my demo account here.

I will update the performance of this manual system along with all the EA's at the end of each week/month.

Conclusions:
1. Robominer was the best performing EA in 2009
2. I was justified and correct pulling MegaDroid from my live account. It gained a measly 70 pips but look at the loss
3. The viability of EB-Turbo is a question mark. If I can prevent the large losses, it may be very profitable.

For 2010, I am hoping to get my ROI up to at least the 10% per month mark. Doing this consistently will be a real challenge.
