| Very nice backtest. What leverage is this?
I am a noob at backtests. Can you do these backtests yourself, or you need someone else to do this? I donīt have the historical data to perform such a test. When I try to go back a long time in history using the strategy tester on MT4, I am getting all sorts of errors and it just abends after a while. Maybe insufficient memory. |

Maybe insufficient memory. | Alpari UK's leverage floats with lot size but basically is 500:1,
With this type of trend trader, leverage is not important. You could trade this EA easily with 100:1. There is the issue, however, if you are going to combine TFOT with other trading systems.
Before you start the backtest, download the current history from Tools->History Center. A backtest requires gobs of RAM. Don't do on a VPS. Also some brokers don't have enough history. Just get a temporary demo account. Load up the history, run the backtests then delete Mt4. I haven't heard the term abend since my mainframe days back before the PC (1985 or so). This Wikipedia article says that is comes from the IBM OS/360 circa 1964

| Looking at these backtests, I need to adjust my expectancies drastically. Still too eager. Even with a good EA you need to have much patience. I am not that long active on the forex market, maybe that is the problem.
Abend is mainframe speak indeed. I have left the platform several years ago, but I am still using the term. In my current working environment (IT Bank) it is still being used. I also find it more fancy and to-the- point than plain "abort". |

The forward demo test will give us a clearer picture but that is still pretty rough. Live /real money trading (at reduced risk to start) will clear up the picture.
As soon as that market opens, I will start a demo with Alpari UK (because their demo's don't expire unless there is no trading for a month) a maximum risk (based on my posted backtests): 8% for EURUSD and 5% for USDCAD. Same percentage for the two faces and monitor.

| I will use the same percentage after New Year. Since GoMarkets demo will expire after a month, there is little sense in continuing to run it. I will stop if when it expires.
[offtopic] Furthermore I have encountered a signal provider that seems promising. http://www.myfxbook.com/members/Tren...ystem-2/191120
I signed up for a trial. Trading will commence on 8th of January. |

Trendy System looks interesting but no where near enough real money history. A year+ would be good.

| Can I change the link in the first post of this thread to your demo with Alpari UK? I could also post a link to my Alpari demo, but it's running alongside of FH.
Apparently the guy running this service (Shawn O'Connor) has been trading for several years for commercial clients, but he was not allowed to show his results on myfxbook. Critics said that only real accounts are "admissable" as proof. Maybe I should start with reduced lotsize. |

Change your link to http://www.myfxbook.com/members/rsmereka/tfot/215729 I just setup that account. It has not been verified yet and it looks like I have a license issue with tfot. I don't know how many demo's I can use. When I ran the backtests on a different account, I had to plug in my client ID. Now the registration program won't let me use the same client ID on another demo account. I sent support an email.
I think you should back off that signal service completely. That's what I would do. Critics are correct, especially with a signal service. After the Genial fiasco, I would insist on at least a year of live/real money history. Just IMHO.

| Thank you for the link. I have modified the first post. TFOT's license is IP address related. I registered it for the first time on my old VPS. Last week I switched to an "in cloud" VPS with different IP, and my license was not working on the new IP. I had to contact Iticsoftware to reset the license. I registered it on my new VPS, and it is working again. I believe there is no limit to the amount of instances of TFOT on the same IP address. Point taken. I will run it on on a old blown account with some money left. I don't care if that goes up in smoke.
