Default Forex Hippo, forexhippo.com

This is a new commercial EA from developer Matt Robinson. Matt is a real person, a great guy. I have been in contact with him several times, and he has followed up with great responces and has posted on the FPA forum as well as the forex-fxtrader.com/forum.
His EA has been under demo testing at Donnaforex.com and the FPA since mid July, with very good results. Donna's VPS has been down the past few weeks, so she missed the losses it incurred at the end of Aug, which leaves her with a perfect balance sheat of no losses. The FPA does show some losses and an incorrect setup on the EURJPY pair.
Matt is very up front and willing to discuss his EA, and looking to improve his EA. His EA already runs very well on the default settings, but there are some interesting features available to anyone who wishes to work on optimizations. I've been talking to him about creating two copies, a simple plug and play version for users, and an advanced version for optimizers, and he is very receptive to these ideas.

I've been testing this for a few weeks and have just installed it on a live account at the 1 micro lot level. To soon to commit to anything more, but the testing has been very good.

Hippo can run on any pair, and any time frame with no restrictions, but the hourly is recomended and there are a few pair he has recomended settings for. His settings are simply backtest optimizations, and he himself runs the default settings with a more conservative lot size on his live accounts. I've talked to him about installing a conservative 5% risk setting as the default, and using the aggressive 15% risk setting as an option. However, the EA runs well on the 15% risk setting and shows some awesome gains. The Risk Adjuster is a percentage of free margin based on the SL amount, so it is the real risk.

Default TP is 30 pips, and default SL is 100 pips. The EA uses three MA's, 20, 50 ,100 for direction and three indicators RSI 14, Stoch 5,3,3, and CCI 14 for confirmation and signals. It enters trades with the trend , when all three indicators are in the overbought/oversold extremes, on a 1 hour backtick in the Stoch indicator . A very interesting way to use these, and the manual strategy is included, no upsells. He recomends a 6 hour time out, and the attachment is installed as part of the default settings, again totaly adjustable for time and pip amount to exit on. He recomends a 2 pip gain as a breakeven exit strategy. This strategy has produced a 90% win rate in his own testing.

The EA uses Stealth Mode (different SL and TP are presented to broker ), and there are other options for trading on Fridays, Sleep Time between trades, Reverse Trade function, MA to Open, MA to Close, Bolinger Band to Open.

This is currently my favorite new EA. I have no affiliation. I just think Matt deserves a good plug, and hope his EA does well, for my own account as well as for him.

The only other EA that I bother to run live is Megadroid, and you can see my postings there, if you go back far enough.

hello Ken

very interesting EA
people seldom talk about the RISK ADJUSTMENT regarding EA deployment although it s vital.

could it be the EA that works like an airplane:let the computer fly and if any emergency situation occurs disconnect and take control manually.

any input Rick.?

Manually controling trades is always an option. Even the best program cant think and see everything. Its up to us to make our own choices, such as running through news announcements, taking profits early, or cutting losses short . Sometimes these choices will work out better, sometimes not, thats the chance.

Hippo has a very good auto Risk adjuster that sets the lot size for a percentage risk to the free margin based on the current SL setting. So we can set a different SL for each pair, and run multiple pairs, without extrreme dangers. It is also very patient and waits for its signals. Tue was a great day with strong trends on the EURUSD and EURJPY. Hippo road these trends for several trades each, but didnt trade any others, and has only made 1 trade since. I'm not trading all the recomended pairs, only the ones that suit me.

Ken,

Thanks for sharing.

I have been watching Hippo as well as Xtreme Pip Poacher. Lately Poacher has been doing really well at 4xProject but I am really put off by the marketing side and the irritating upsells.

It's good to hear that there is a real person behind Hippo. One cannot tell from the website.

Rick

hello Ken

I visited the hippo website and was desappointed by the layout.....high percentage- big profits-make you rich almost overnight-the testimonials-the dateline ...etc...business as usual....copy paste from the other ads..

I only hope the EA will do well

many thanks

Matt has expressed his interested in our feedback on exactly this. Hopefully he stops by and reads this posting and acknowledges your comment, I did send him the link to this thread. He put out an excellent surrvey this past weekend asking questions about his web site, and questions on ways he could improve the EA, etc, and I think he got an earful on just this subject. He mentioned that he got a lot of responces from people who were fed up with EA marketing and hype and false claims.

All I can say is that so far I havent recieved any spam in connection with this EA, no affiliate marketing from him, no affiliate marketing from others selling his EA. This in itself is a relief, his web site design he will have to consider and weigh the alternatives.

That said, running a 15% risk setting across several pair, this EA did increase my 10K demo account at FXDD by almost 50% on Tue, $4600. It did this with 10 trades, 4 on the EURUSD and 6 on the EURJPY. My demo at FXCM got a few less trades and only gained a little under 30%, in one day. On Wed it lost 1 trade on FXDD and gave back $2K, but followed up Thur with anouther win. My FXCM account didnt take the loss Tue, and followed up with 2 wins Thur and anouther one so far today. I am trading a few more pair on the FXCM account than on FXDD. All my win/loss ratios run an inverse 3:1-4:1 ratio. I've adjusted most myself to fit my interpretation of the range .

Personaly I think this is pretty good and supports some of those claims. I still dont like the hyped up marketing, but I've had to learn to read past it and search out good information.
I had all but given up on testing new EA's. I was tired of wasting my time testing crap, but Donnaforex had this one on demo and it showed some great results, and an exam of her published MT4 Stats proved very interesting. A little more searching turned up similar results on the FPA's demo test, and that was enough to get me going, and I'm glad I did, this one is a lot of fun to test and work with, and is proving profitable so far. Still too early to make any great claims, but I have hope.

Ok,

Here is a nice long story for you.

First, VTTrader is a platform and is not compatible with MetaTrader. It has it's own programming language. CMSFX now, does offer MetaTrader accounts however.

I started my Forex trading with CMS and VTTrader back in 2006. VTT has the best programming language and the best community to turn strategies into trading systems IMHO. The big problem is with VTTrader. When I last used it, it's networking was not resilient enough. It would disconnect (as all platforms do sometimes) but it would only do one retry after a fixed timeout and then give up whereas MT4 keeps on retrying and, most of the time, will re-connect automatically.

hello Rick

well ..I downloaded FXopen MT4 then nothing happens...it says no connection even for a demo..!!

VT trader is sharp and seems not to have any problems whatsoever...(although demo only)
the orders are straighforward...have a look at this edition might be more advanced than the one in 96.
do you have hippo on demo..?

Yes,

VTT is very slick and you can get any trading system you want for free. No doubt that the VTT platform has improved since I used it last. VTT is a lot lighter than MT4 in terms of disk space, processor utilization and memory. MT4 drags in comparison.

I have not yet purchased Hippo. I have been thinking about it but then I got involved with testing the 2% Daily EA which has keep me busy/distracted right now. Hippo is really doing well at 4xproject and I like the fact that there is a real person behind the marketing.

Speaking of the marketing, you could never tell that there is a real person involved from looking at the website. The website is terrible. The usual marketing garbage with no real proof or very short -term proof.
