Pipcip:
This should lead to a new discussion about brokers and how we can test. This would be a good project for pipcop community to tabulate tick by tick the amount of spread for any particular pair, since I don't think anyone should believe their low pip claims nor the anecdotal evidence of "great experience" or "I never had any problems with them" and catch those brokers who have a scummy business practice. I propose we test a few that we can open "live" accounts with ( using existing or 2nd accounts) and just collect and publish tick data over a month's time ( which should even out alot of the spikes, etc) like the performance statements for the robots. We can then compare that with the "published"/claimed spreads and rate them subjectively. For example : IBFX: 25+pips: 75% of 10000 ticks/month, etc.

Yes, we could all provide info about spreads with our brokers.

I like the idea of publishing spreads. However, we would have to come up with something automatic. Having people manually check and update data is prone to errors or laziness.

As far as FxPro, I got crazy and added a demo account to the FAP Turbo thread, so we'll see how they compare. One thing I did notice is that while they have a lot of pairs, they didn't have EURGBP which was odd to me.

PipCop,
What I had in mind was a little EA that collected the info. It would be put on a LIVE Account ( although a demo would probably work as well ) and just pick off each Buy/Sell tick off of each pair and tabulate say every 10 or 15 min and a running monthly average. This is done without any trading. We could also break down for each of the 4 sessions which can help robots do their thing most efficiently ( or help when its gets rough)
I know where we can put the test.
The results would be in a output log file, which you can pick up and publish on your site.
PM me if you want a complete spec.
Just having something like this is likely worth more than an EA that gets double the best EA, as if the hoopla about spreads is to believed, then we're giving the brokers more than their due.

For all those budding EA developers/ enthusiasts this is a chance to make a difference without taking a risk.
Let's move this sidebar over to its own thread ( I can't start new threads ).

I think that's a great idea. I can write that EA, and then put it on a variety of brokers. However, I'd want the data in a database, which is also something I can do. I'll have to figure out what intervals to capture the data, but then I can do reporting such as highest, lowest, history, and allow searching and so forth.

FYI - everyone who is registered can start new threads. You just cannot start them in the Robot Review forums - those are reserved for me, as they show up on the home page. The "General" forum and all the others are wide open.

2) why are you trading it on the audnzd, does it only work on that pair

there may be other ones coming down the pike, but this is the only one so far that has tested by this site and passed muster without anyone getting scammed either.
There's a virtual goldmine of information on the forex-goldmine.com web site that explains the dynamics of this robot and why this pair and any others are traded.

I've also been demoing Robominer. And I'd say that my experiences are the same as shown here. Admittedly it does not appear as sexy as some EA's that offer pyramiding, Fractals or what have you. But you have to admit that the thing just makes money!

I think some people appear to dismis it because it perhaps seems a bit dull. But the other thing I like about this EA is that it is (as far as I know) the only EA which clearly describes it's trading method, and even better, it does so with mathematical proof as to why you need the opening balance you do etc.

I think it is probably one of the most underrated EAs I've come across

ps - just to let you know I don't sing praises of EA's very often. I think I've tested 50+ in the last 18months and this is one of 4 I consider any way decent.
