Could be any of what you mentioned. Keen observation is required to find out which component is malfunctioning. If it's the connection, the connection bars in MT4 should show no connection. The only way of finding out whether it is the broker is to have multiple accounts of the same type (live or demo) connecting to the same server. I see this sometimes with Alpari UK when their demo accounts go haywire but the live accounts are fine or (heaven forbit
) visa versa. In that case, having a VPS won't help because the entire broker communication structure to one or more servers has broken down.
A VPS definately helps minimize these problems provided you go with a supplier that is very stable.
